Senior A Debating – PNBHS (2017-2019)

Senior A Debating – PNBHS (2017-2019)

As a Senior at Palmerston North Boys High School, I debated and achieved at a high level within regional and national competitions. Most of this time was spent in the school Senior A team – the best group of debaters in the school. This experience has helped me to develop teamwork skills, as well as skills in critical thinking and public speaking.

  • Central North Islands Debating Competition 2018. Placed 4th (Highest placing for a Year 12) after losing to the top ranking team. I was highly commended for my style and case excellence.
  • Napier Exchange, 1st August 2018. Win against NPBHS affirming the moot “THW require employers to interview candidates in a way which conceals their appearance, age, gender and ethnicity”.
  • Central North Islands Debating Competition 2019. Placed 2nd after losing to WHS Gold whom we had previously beaten in the elimination rounds. Attained another Highly Commended for my stylistic and structural excellence.
